If anything is good for your brain, reading is! Look here to browse interesting books. Who knows what you'll find in here? Come curl around a good book, and help support R & D too!

For as long as I have been able to read, I have always enjoyed going to a library or place of books... To gather knowledge and understanding, or simply to learn something new, is a personal adventure of maverick discovery. I've always felt it is an honorable gift to have such an abundance of literature at one's fingertips. To me, it is one of the great treasures of our human foundation...

As a child, I adored spending entire days at the library to thumb through card catalogues. I'd start by simply opening one of the brass handled, wooden drawers at random. Almost immediately, something in each of these solid, mitered 'core-samples' of literature would appeal to my wonder.

One finds one book which leads to a new understanding, or idea; which in turn leads to another book, and a then another book. Sometimes I would stay until the library closed, leaving with a pile of books in arms, and a mind which felt a bit larger, and perhaps even a bit smaller too, in an amazing world of curiosities and marvels.

Let's celebrate knowing,

Michael

This Month's Book Recommendation

I love, love, love the mind of R. Buckminster Fuller. It's a shame I'll never meet the good man in person. Still, I'm grateful for his incredible scope, much of which I've yet to completely understand (or perhaps ever will). You see, Buck, understood the "geometry of thinking"...

As an inventor, designer, architect, philosopher, mathematician and all around mental master, "Bucky" is truly one of the most brilliant spirits of the 20th century. Perhaps best remembered for the Geodesic Dome, his work and writings have had a profound impact on modern life and thought.

Critical Path is Fuller's a master work--a summary of a lifetime's thought and concern--as urgent and relevant as it was upon its first publication in 1981. Critical Path details how humanity found itself in its current situation—at the limits of the planet's natural resources and facing political, economic, environmental, and ethical crises.

The crowning achievement of an extraordinary career, Critical Path offers the reader the excitement of understanding the essential dilemmas of our time and how responsible citizens can rise to meet this ultimate challenge to our future.

If you'd care to get more of a feel for Fuller's brilliance, click here and here . ooh! ..and here and here!

In Dr Hans Jenny's, Cymatics, you will find 100's of incredible photos which illustrate fourteen years of experiments which used sound to animate inert powders, pastes, and liquids into life-like, flowing forms that mirrored patterns found throughout nature, art, and architecture.

Jenny came to term his experimental practice "Cymatics", which comes from the Greek word kyma or ta kymatika meaning; matters pertaining to waves.

Cymatic images are truly awe-inspiring, not only for their visual beauty in portraying the inherent responsiveness of matter to sound, but also because they inspire a deep recognition that we, too, are part and parcel of the same complex and intricate vibrational matrix
